new x-bolt

[WSM]

I am thinking of getting the new x-bolt in a 7mm WSM. I am interested in reading some responses on why the 7mm WSM never became a popular as the other WSM.

I have a Savage 16FCSS in 7WSM............Love it !!
Sold my Rem 700 Sendero in 7mm Mag after using the WSM.

The 300WSM came first, then a few months later Remington brought out the 300SAUM and 7mmSAUM. The next year, Winchester brought out the 270 WSM and the 7mmWSM. However, the 7mmWSM was significantly delayed as it had to be modified as some nut managed to jam one into a 270WSM chamber.

Nothing wrong with the 7mmWSM, just that the field was already crowded and the others, especially the 300WSM and 270WSM had a big head start. The 7mmWSM just never really took off. Even the 325WSM is significantly more popular.

There are lots of 7mm cartridges available, there are only 3 270. The 270 field was not as crowded. Also, with new bullets like TSX, Accubond, etc, there is really nothing that the 7mmWSM can do that the 270WSM can't do, plus the 270WSM is way more popular.
