View Full Version : Auger blade sharpening in Calgary
I have a few dulled sets of the Jiffy stealth STX blade kit...

I am wondering if anybody knows of a shop in Calgary (preferably in the south) that can sharpen these up?
Thanks!

I know it is not it in the South, but I take my two sets to western saw in the North east after every ice season and have them ready for the upcoming season.

If memory serves me correct I do not think Western will do anything but a straight blade.

Western will do jiffy blades, get both my pairs done at start of season, not sure on little ones but I have two of the bigger ones, and I paid 15 bucks for them to get sharpened...they won't do the curved ones like Eskimo blades...

You know...I just did mine on my Jiffy Model 77 10" with a $3 fine-cutting flat file I bought from Princess Auto. I did the same blade as your top one in the pic (mine doesn't have the two bottom blades) and I did both edges of the auger point...VERY CAREFULLY by making sure I did not screw up the cutting angles of the edges.
I was debating taking them in to get professionally sharpened...but after this, I will just do my own.
And it cuts through ice like a hot knife thru butta!

Jiffy has a 3 year warranty on their blades if you still have the receipt

I was wondering if you leave it at 1 angle or do you lift up the rear of the board very slightly and let it go 10-20 seconds to get a secondary angle?

I took mine to allblades last year, they seem to have done a good job.
