Been a while but I've been busy. Did the three forts trip this weekend and was wondering about one of the birds I saw in wood buffalo park.

I think it's a rock ptarmigan but in summer plumage? In the middle of winter?

The second is for you rock hound types. Also from the Nwt but from the summer. Just wondering if these are fossils in the rock or some sort of formation I'm woefully ignorant of.

Thanks. Didn't get much of a look as it bolted when I tried to get another angle to see better.

The rock is limestone and its full of fossils from an ancient tropical sea. Did you see that around Enterprise along the Hay River gorge?

Samba deh falls specifically, if I recall correctly. Usually I take land mark/roadside photos to remind me of where the series of photos begin but it must have slipped my mind at the time.
