Scam Beware

Hi,
There is a email scam sent out concerning your 2012 tax return. However I just got a call and the person says I am Deanna from Canada Revenue Agency in Winnipeg.

They wanted my wife to call them back to discuss her 2012 return.

It is not CRA I called and they checked the number internally, they gave me the RCMP 800# for fraud. So on hold to report it.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

Follow up, RCMP fraud office said, if its a government agency it is your right to ask for the request to be sent to you in writing before releasing your personal information over the phone. :)

Was this number on the email you received, and you called them ?
Or did they have both your email and phone number ? Sounds odd.

No email,, just a phone call. There is a email going around as well.

Beware, there are bad critters out there and a lot of them walk on two legs.

Rev Canada would not send E mails or ask over the phone for something like this.That`s a dead give away.But thanks for the heads up,lots of folks get all nervous and tell all without checking.Those are the ones they hope to reach.
