Just found out that he passed away on his way to AFGA conference yesterday.

While there wasn't too many issues we agreed on, he was a strong voice in our community.

God bless Robin.

I guess he's not coming to grab a skunk by the tail at my place.
He said it could be done no problem but never took me up on my offer to watch him do it.

Judging by his posts that I remember on the subject, he will be at peace with his god.

I do not recall ever actually crossing swords with Duffy which... in retrospect made him a pretty rare bird.
I do recall that he liked to mix it up a bit... challenge ideas and keep folks thinking.
He was a bantum...and I like that quality in people regardless of whether or not I always agree with them.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.

God speed Duffy.

Though many here didn't agree with his position regarding ATV's, none can deny that he was a great Promoter and supporter of Hunting, Fishing, and outdoor recreation. The weekly column he wrote in the local paper was that of the average Alberta hunter, not the professional hunter hype you read in many magazines.
Rest in Peace my friend, watch over us as we continue to enjoy the outdoors you so loved!

This is terrible news. We(rimbey fish & game) had been working together on a resolution around cow elk hunting in 332 and 330. He had a lot of passion for conservation and fair chase. I didn't know Duffy/Robin. But I did notice him.

We never really talked but his love for the outdoors was evident.

And may be that is what lead me to write this for him. It's been a lot of years since I wrote any poetry. About 50 years as I recall.

But for whatever reason nothing else says what I thought of the man the way I want it to.

So here is to Duffy/Robin. God speed my brother.

The perfume of Wild Roses.
Wind rustles the grass.
Sun warm on one's shoulders.
Soft ground under foot.

The cry of the Eagle.
Wind moans in the trees.
The laughter of rapids.
Cool shadowed forest.

You were born for wild places.
At home with the Deer.
And there may you rest.
God speed my brother.

I did not know him, I seen him at several gun shows, he was always personable.
I believe he left the form on his own. [He had options but did not act?]

Robin was a strong gift to Alberta's outdoors community. He certainly danced to a different drummer and if he had a fault it was to let his passion override his desire to improve the fish and wildlife issues that he so loved to pursue. His premature passing makes me realize how much time I enjoyed in his presence.
I flew many helicopter hours with him, kept his ugly mule for a year when he was in Australia, shared many jokes with him, attended several F&G conventions with him, burnt some brush with him and finally helped retrieve his truck from Struble lake a few weeks ago.
The wolves will be relieved to discover he no longer haunts their country and the rest of us will need to find a new champion of Alberta's wild country.
My condolences to his family since I know very well how much he loved sharing the outdoors with them!

I am Robin "Duffy"'s brother. Just a thanks to all who experssed good wishes and expressed condolences in this thread. Robin really liked this web forum and we often talked about topics on this forum. (And sometimes about how his posts had been misinterpreted which is common with web forums as opposed to chatting with a person over a beer face to face.)

I think Robin enjoyed all the things that go along with hunting and fishing as much as the actual hunts or fishing trips. Setting up web cames, scouting areas, looking for shed antlers, guns shows and auctions etc.

Once again thanks for the good thoughts.
