I am looking to find some campgrounds in Alberta and bc that offer nice tenting sites around fishable areas. Find now most campgrounds cater almost exclusively to trailers and motorhomes, which I don't have. Nothing like having your tent sandwiched between two giant trailers. Walk in sites would be great.

Horse shoe bay camp ground north of Vancouver has great walk in sites right on the water.

A simple search on provincial park/camping websites will show you lots of 'tenting only' opportunities ... many of them next to a lake or river with great fishing.

I'm not going to do your homework for you, but Beauvais Lake Provincial Park (west of Pincher Creek) would be one of many excellent examples.

:sign0111: ... and good fishing to you!

Richarson back country north of mcmurray.

quad in and you have your choice of twin lakes, herb lake, keith lake, whale lake, six lakes, laroque, barber and bear lakes to camp at. Six lakes is stocked and I've seen plenty of fish jumping in the mornings while up there cooking breakfast. I cannot vouch for the rest to this status.

peaceful, no cell reception for many and ammenties are what you bring with you.

It's too late now ... the word is out!!!

I've already started to organize a huge multi-family reunion there at Rock Lake this summer. Maybe we'll even make it a monthly event! I'm calling it; 'Rock-On at Rock Lake!!!'

Thanks for the tip! :47b20s0:

I suggest you take a look at the Backcountry Mapbook series. Select your target area and pick up the applicable book. All the camp sites you can imagine.

Speaking of Rock Lake, did anyone know that Rock Lake Lodge is for sale?

Look up Sir Winston Churchill Park on LacLaBiche lake
On 600+ acre island, 8km hiking trails, 300 year old forest
70 camp-sites, Beaches, Fishing from shore or bring boat
to explore a 25 mile long lake. Drive to camp sites across
a cause-way. Other islands have large colonies of nesting
birds. Nice no traffic noise other than birds.

Last time I camped at Rock Lake with a tent a mother grizz and her cubs came thru the area. Warden was concerned about the tenters.

Small campground but nice and easy. SW of Edmonton- Mount Red park is one of my favorites. Trout stocked. Never overcrowded. Pigeon and Battle lakes are within 7 miles.
There are several natural areas downstream of Drayton Valley along the North Sask. river that a person can camp at. Odds are no one would be camping at alot of them. I walk into lots of places along the river that are great for camping. Always liked Brazeau area too. open camping in the forest.
What I like is camping where a person doesn't have to be as concerned about bears.

Grizz might have mistaken them for some extra large 7/11 burritos.

I hear the broadstone wrapped ones taste cheap and the coleman ones are pretty tasty.

Foot Lk (AKA Boot Lk) Just over the BC border off the heritage hwy. Nice tenting spots right on the water there are 0 amenities there only outhouses . You need a canoe or small boat for the lake which is stalked to my knowledge. There are also several creeks within a 10min drive of the camp site that are full of grayling and trout.

Ok I have been trying to find lakes like around my hometown in northern BC. Does anyone know of any CLEAR water lakes, ones that you can actually see things in? I am looking for ones that we can swim in and not worry about getting swimmers itch or some other thing. Plus I do not know about you but if I am camping in areas that have seen bears in the campgrounds, I will have a bear banger or gun. For those just in case moments.
