While out Sat. found these tracks. From where the lines are on the front track and how straight the walk was I think its a grizzle. Any experts out there that can confirm this.

It's in a area that typically has small black bears.

The pad in the top pic looks flat enough but it's to hard to say for sure with out seeing some more. The bottom pic looks like a black. I can't tell for sure, they are pretty old and and not sharp and fresh enough to tell from the photos.

Looks like a big blacky to me.

I'm pretty sure a Griz would leave claw marks in that soft soil. Plus it looks to me like there are claw marks in the last photo and if that's what they are they are way too close to the toes for it to be a Griz.

I grant you it's a awful big track for a Black, but not out of the realm of possibility.

Took this pic moments after he didn't eat me. Grizz or Blackie?

Do you have a pic of the front pad?

Front pad. It was pretty dry ground so the imprint ain't the best.

Looks like his front and back feet overlap in the centre print. The print in the top right corner is hard to make out well but I have the impression it is a black bear track.

Always like to post pics of my Grizzly's claws. That's a hind foot, but the fronts aren't exceptionally long either. Never generalize too much, you might regret it.

Now the truth. He snuck up on me while setting up a game cam. I turned around he was 8 feet away.

He left peacefully. I was not scared till after I got to think of what just happened. As you can see he is collared so I think he may of been scared of humans, from past experiences.

Then he crossed the river and I was stalking him. hehehe

Saw 3 more grizz on that trip but none so close. Can't believe never got none on my game cams as I had 6 of them out there.

Anything is possible when guessing unknown tracks of this nature, which was my point.

I guess you missed it. Perhaps if you had read the whole post?
Including; but not out of the realm of possibility.

I was out in K country today hiking around in the Jumpingpound Demonstration forest and saw lots of big bear tracks. I didn't see any actual bears but it seems they are awake and moving around west of Calgary.

looks like a big black bear track if you look at the front track the toe prints are curved when in a grizzly track they generally are straight across but they are old tracks so i could be wrong

I'm not claiming to be an expert, and I'll say it is a Grizzly.

When you can draw a straight line between All the toes and pad on the front foot, it's a Grizz.

The bottom track is the (left) front foot.
