Gate was locked at Police, of course that's not going to stop the Civic so drove around it, so adventurous! Just enough open water by the bridge to chuck a fly but no action, rest of the lake ice covered. One aerator is running with just enough open water for maybe a couple belly boats in that area. Could have shook the hands of the guys on the ice if I had brought the pontoon. After 2 hours of nothing from the bridge, I packed up and went to check out Payne. It is pretty much completely iced other than a bit of shoreline west of the boat launch. Few diehards on the ice.

Where to next? Maybe should have stopped at Butcher but drove on by and hit the Crow for a couple hours. Landed 3 Rockies and 1 rainbow on a BH Hares ear nymph and a black chronie dropper. Clear water, blue skies and warm breeze. Great day to be on the water.

Thanks Bee. Fought like a bulldog, nose to the bottom, real scrappy. And, they really dislike getting like their picture taken.
