Check out the Tatonka external frame pack. Absolutlly the best pack for what you are looking for. I use mine on an elk hunt and worked awesome for packing out Elk and super comfy and well built. Wholesale carries them occasonally and can get them in.

I would look at exo mountain gear. Their pack is built for exactly what you're describing.

Wow, I just went through their site! These are extremely impressive packs, offering, I think, a perfect solution for meat hauling---all the way down to a day pack--with the same pack! Lightweight and huge carrying capabilities, with a ton of options to come... One of these is on my list for sure!

If you are interested I'll send you some pics. It's a amazing pack but I've bought a few packs that I use for specific purposes instead of a all propose pack. I got the smaller eberstock for day trips and the kuiu for my long hauls. The bag has never seen blood and is in amazing shape. Used on 4 sheep hunts.

Maybe not in the same league, but I just received an ALPS Outdoorz Commander Freighter (from amazon :scared:). For the price it seemed worth a shot and it had quite a few good reviews on the ameriacan site. I should have it out this spring for a test run.

I agree! Hands down mystery ranch will prove itself above and beyond others! They are pricey but man they perform. I have the 120L pack with nice frame. I paid about $950 delivered. I pack around 80lb and my buds pack at least 90-100 on trips in and out. One trip my bud got his 12.5 year old ram by himself and buried some food to shed weight, when he got back he weighed his pack at 143lb! He is 40 years old and 165lb. This pack just feels like it belongs on your back and to haul heavy! The military also uses these packs. Tons of storage and add ons as well. The top cubby pack also turns into mini day back pack. You not be disappointed about spending the money!

P.S. Some other guys in our group have various other packs and carry less weight and want to switch packs on trail all the time.

In my opinion, the color or camo pattern of your prospective mountain bag should be the last thing on your evaluation list. Again, just my opinion.

oh it definitely was, I eally liked the design and the fact that the meat could be kept right up against the back, the asat was just icing on the cake
