Taxidermist in Fort McMurray

I'm looking for a taxidermist close to Fort McMurray. I'm not sure if the only one I've found in town is still in business as I've called a few times and never got anyone to answer. To be honest, the few times that I have called have been weeks apart and I've only left one message so getting a hold of them is probably more of a lack of effort on my part than a problem with them.

I managed to get a half decent Whitetail buck north of Fort McMurray last year and would like to make a European mount with it. My wife's not interested in letting me use the one pot we have that would be big enough to simmer it in and we don't have a portable stove to do it out in the garage anyways so its kind of a moot point as doing it in the house doesn't seem to be an option for her.

Does anyone know someone that they would recommend? I basically just need somebody to clean up the head as it is starting to thaw out with the warmer weather and lack of time on my part is starting to make my options limited. I'm afraid that if I leave it much longer and my wife sees a few wigglers my problem with what to do with the head may cease.

Thaw it out, grab a coleman stove, an old pot, and some washign ( NOT baking) soda and water, and head out of town.
Sit down fire it up, put about a cup of soda oin the pot, grab a beverage,,and sit back!
The washing soda will clean 90% of the meat off, then you can dry it and wire brush it off.

Pressure washer works good after boiling.
Nice big canning pot on the BBQ works good.
Don't boil it too long.
Never used bleach or sodas with mine and they turned out nice.

Washing soda cuts down the boiling time drastically, and really takes the stuff off much faster than straight water.
When I skinned for a taxidermist that is what we used when we wanted to do up the skulls .

Any of the big stores have it , I always used Arm and Hammer.
I think if one used the soap and a high pressure washer it would work pretty well
I Once washed about 20 bear skulls then finished them at the car wash!:sHa_sarcasticlol:

I have my own pressure washer but am not sure of how much pressure it puts out, that's why I am asking.:)

I used the local car wash but don't tell them k.

Yeah, when Ii went in we just started washing- nobody said anything however!:sHa_sarcasticlol:
I think I will try and get a skull and use my power washer this spring.

I just picked up the washing soda and pulled the canner out from storage.

Dont have too big of a spoonfull if it tastes like it smells , i dont think you'll like it .....lol

You can buy washing soda in any supermarket, just ask them for Arm and Hammer washing soda.
It's actually a type of sodium and highly alkaline.
There is also another brand called 100 mule team.
Works super well!:)
