yes it was, got on some open water and got my butt handed me by the fish, but did manage to land one of 5 bites. Then the hurricane blew in so I called it an early day and went home to do some work on my boat .

so let me get this straight. you guys down south have no snow and now no ice on the larger lakes? we got a good dump of snow last night and we can still ice fish on most of the lakes.
congrats on posting first pike in the open water tourney.

Good to hear....don't expect you to name lakes :) but I'm assuming that to the south and east of you are freed up now? Chomping at the bit for the 1st trip down south in T-26 days...hoping that the water has a chance to warm up a little before I get there. 3 years ago there was still snow on the ground opening weekend....and when I came back 2 weeks after another storm had redeposited what melted!

Lakes arent hard to figure out, only a few open to fish right now . I saw some ice shelves along the Bow but the lakes all looked ice free, the ones I saw anyways. Hoping its not snowing on may 8 either, not that it matters i will still be on the river :sHa_shakeshout:

Careful what you say....Mother Nature might burst her banks early this year! I'm not ruling anything out the way this winter's gone. In Calgary this afternoon was snowing as hard as I've seen it all year. Had to quarter my way out of it all the way home-tack to the east and outrun it, tack north back into it. So sick of this crap-can't fish, can't work on fishing equipment as the new boat won't fit into the garage....

well if the rivers burst its banks i am sure wayne won't have to go very far to fish or to launch his jet boat.

Looks like a nice day until the gale started, good to finally be on the open water and get some pike slime on your hands.
