gophers near cold Lake?

Wondering if anyone knows if gophers exist in the cold lake area? I would love to find an area or field I could get some permission on so I can take my kids out for something to do during the summer. We just moved here and the two older kids we normally share custody with their father won't be coming with living with us. When they do come to visit for summers and holidays id like to be able to take them out instead of having them sit on the computers or xbox. Don't get me wrong now, Im not asking for directions on here and will be heading out to knock on doors, just wondering if there is a viable population up this way to be worth while knocking on said doors. I have not seen one the whole time I have been up here.

You will be able to find a few viable patches close to CL (like right across from the mall) but there seem to be less and less each year.

It seems a lot of farmers in the area are moving away from beef and putting a lot of long time pasture land into canola and other crops.

You would find better shooting 45min-one hour south of here.
