To start, I Love fly fishing. We have a few decent trout holes around Medicine Hat that have been my staple for some years now, and generally keep me content. But, this season I would like to expand on species targeted, and fly fish for some walleyes. I haven't targeted these fish for years, so I could use some guidance as to what bodies of water around the Medicine Hat would be worth the drive. I can travel 1.5 -2 hours one way to location, but can't justify any further as I just day trip. At the lake, my only means of on the water transportation is my flippered feet and a fishcat, so it needs to be still water. And I need to be able to launch within a km. or 2 of where I will be fishing, as kicking any further than that is just too much.

So, what non-draw walleye fisheries would be worth a try? What do you suggest?

South Saskatchewan River. Pretty close to where you are.:)

Used to fish a lot right in town.

Rattlesnake, 40 mile are closest reservoirs. Also Grassy, chin.

Duncairn Reservoir in Sask. Awesome little lake for walleye.

Diefenbaker Reservoir in Sask. Both Sask reservoirs might be a little far for day trips.
