Good Afternoon Folks,

I am looking to plan a May long outing with a couple friends. We typically hit the McLeod near Robb but I want to try somewhere else. Does anyone have any good recommendations for rivers/streams that are decent for early season fishing in the Nordegg/RMH area?

Thanks,

You could try shunda creek there's a few decent browns and Brooks to be had. It's over by Nordegg.

There are many many places to fish in the Rocky/ Nordegg area. Barry Mitchell's fishing alberta magazine is very helpful also fishing the forestry trunk road by same author is excellent. Get a back roads book it shows all the back roads , creeks and streams. If your into lakes and ponds there is Struble lake, twin lakes, Mitchell lake, Cow lake, big boat only please, Ironside pond, catch and release. Lots of good fishing in any of these lakes. Also Clearwater River. iPhone has an app called ifish alberta. Excellent app. Hope this helps. Be prepared for the May long extravaganza , it's interesting to watch

Barry Mitchells book called "Trout Highway" is a good read about the areas waters too.

For the streams and rivers that are open to fishing, May can be a great month. The waters could be running fairly clear by the long weekend.
