Looking for a decent river/stream to catch some trout.....Not asking where your secret spots are just a river within a few hours that i can flyfish or cast some lures.. Thank you.

Maybe try the NSR upstream of Edmonton closer to Drayton Valley. McLeod river, maybe even hit the east slopes by Nordegg.

Yeah I've seen them in the NSR closer to DV, they were going after my body bait which was way too big for them lol

The north Sask river above Drayton gets better. Above Rocky Mtn. House is alot more trout. The Rocky/Caroline areas have great streams and rivers.
I think the closest trout streams would be at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Edmonton.
I only know one secret little creek that has small trout in it that is about 50 minutes away from south edmonton. The rest are 1 to 2 hours away. In every direction except east.

Get the alberta fishing guide available in most magazine stands or sporting goods store.

My suggestion too. Pick up a copy of Barry Mitchell's 2014 Alberta Fishing Guide. You can probably pick it up at your local Safeway or Canadian Tire.

Shunda creek by Nordegg is a great place to go. Fly rod works great in that area.
