Anyone notice how quad batteries don't last or hold a charge worth beans! Why don't they make quad batteries a little larger like lawn tractor batteries that seem to last. Any input or advice?

I drive a grizz 700, on my battery terminals I hooked a plug to it so my trickle charger plugs into it, and once a month (in winter) I charge it for 12 hrs, i'm on my second batt in 7 yrs.....I do the same with my fj 1100, however it had the bun as Iv had the bike for 3 yrs and its the batt it came with, and this is a 4 cyc engine..And this batt isnt much bigger than the grizz batt....

Measure out the maximum a battery for your box will fit and take the measurements to Napa. I did this and found a compatible battery from a skidsteer that way for my 700 diesel cat. Almost double the CCA from the factory and going 5yrs strong.

Check out the Odessy dry cell batteries. I use them in my motorcycles. Available at Battery Direct. Well worth the extra few dollars. I got 8 years out of my last one.

If your application requires any amount of winching....forget the longevity, right now. It gets even worse if you have the extra CCA in the same size case..the plates in these are to close to each other and the heat developed when winching will warp and short out your plates quicker...at least where I come from...:character0175:

Bought my Yamaha quad in 2004, still same battery. I'm impressed how long they last. Almost 10 years, and going strong.

Put a smart charger on them over the winter and they will last much longer.:)
