Thinking about buying a lot in town in Central Alberta to build in the next year. Got a quote from the real estate agent of a developer with a lot available where we would like to build but, of course, the price he quoted was significantly higher than what I thought it would be. Like fairly far north of $150K kind of higher. Yikes. Backs onto a treed park/lake with a view to the west and nothing but trees behind.
My questions are:
1. is there any room to wiggle on the price for a lot or is it pretty firm? It's the only lot left in a great area so I'm not sure if I have much bargaining power.
2. Once I buy a lot, how easily will I be able to find a builder? Seems like around here they like to buy their own lots and then sell them as a package with the lot?
