The 40,000 who fought and the 158 who died will be honoured during a national ceremony on Parliament Hill.

At 1:30 p.m., a single gun shot will signal two minutes of silence, eastern time .

Please stop and take two minutes of silence today at 11:330 our time

Quite impressed that the flypast used rotary & transports instead of the usual flashy Hornets and/or (gawd forbid) Snowbirds.
Looking forward to seeing the battle ribbon on the Squadron Colors.

I went to high school with Sergeant Kirk Garret Taylor, who died in 2009 by IED in Kandahar after only 2 months in the field. We came from a very small community in Nova Scotia, the entire area took it pretty hard. We were never really friends, but had a lot of mutual friends.

Saw his face on the on the CTV news coverage of the War Memorial today.

He is missed by a lot of people.

In my two tours to Afghanistan I've been to 8 ramp ceremonies, sending the boys home. Will never forget them. Each one has made realize how good we have it here in this country and reminds me to never take what we have in our lives for granted.

Life is short boys, enjoy it and love the ones you love!
