Anybody on here can program VHF channels? I have some truck radio's and hand helds that need some channels.

Also have some UHF's radios for sale as well (truck and hand helds). All Motorola's. Surplus to my needs.

Thanks

4 Motorola HT 1000's hand helds UHF. 1 UHF Motorola Truck radio. Don't know the model on that one truck ain't here. Hand helds probably need new batterys. Radios work lot better than you can buy at Wally World or Crappy Tire. Ya need a license though, air waves are expensive.:thinking-006:

You bet I can do that. Just lookin for a alternate. But kinda nice if ya come to a road and they have the frequency posted but its not in your radio and you cannot put that channel in your radio. That's what I am saying. Not good coming up the hill on a blind corner with a loaded logging truck coming towards you. I don't like messing with loaded logging trucks. Or anybody bigger than my 1 ton. hehehe

Gotcha. Just sell that radio and buy a Ham radio for $179. Allegedly, you can just remove a little piece of solder in them and then you can transmit on any channel you punch in, allegedly.

I bought it used from a heli pilot. All of the channels that I have programmed are in the 164 to 167 range, some simplex, some duplex. Technically, I may not be able to legally transmit on these channels, but I have this radio for safety reasons, and if I have to use it, I will deal with the consequences later. When I first bought it, I was working at night, in winter, in the mountains, and the radios that I was supplied with would last about an hour. I had to quit that job to get their attention. They didn't accept my resignation, got new radios, and we kissed and made up.

Dang I use it for safety as well. Logging trucks ain't small. Ya got to have it on the private roads. I just got my renew for my radio's and I was surprised to see how much it was. Some of those radio's I have been paying on for 3 years and I ain't even own them no more. Fire the accountant. hehehe:test:

Just ****es me off when I go on a road with the channel posted and its not in my radio and I can't put it in my radio. :angry3:

Sure wish I could program mine. Thanks Big Bull.

depending on the frequency, power output, and intended purpose, just require a radio operators license to operate them.

I've had 2ways for a very long time - never heard of a single check being made.

Still running them - mine is a TAD M-10 - 300 chnls.
You can get them with the switches so you can program your own, if you have the info.

They are probably classed as business band radio's. You still need a license for them, but the output is not as high as an actual Ham radio.

Who would catch you? The RCMP or is there some form of radio cops.

My understanding of that sort of thing is that it's generally policed when you post about it on forums and someone decides to report you more or less for the hell of it.

Any one who owns the road can stop and fine you weyehauser is big on that as with pennwest not to hard to go get a license i know it might take some time off here but it can be done ppl will do whatever is the easiest then when caught come on here and complain and whine

But that was my question. It was a legitimate question, just wondering who the actual authority is when it comes to that sort of thing.

2 ways are fine as long as you stay off the amateur bands.

Feds.
Had one radio that was licensed.
Yearly stipend sent to them....back then around $46.00 ? (forget how much)

The only place ever I was asked for the radio license was Northern BC. It was a massive checkstop. They went over everything. I think they just love stopping trucks with Alberta plates. :bad_boys_20:

Enforcement is done by Industry Canada.

They have a branch that investigates complaints of unauthorized transmission on frequencies and channels that require licencing. They have the authority to seize equipment and lay charges. Generally they are more oriented towards educating violators and gaining compliance. Depends a bit on whose channels you have strayed onto and their wishes. They would take a much firmer stance if the channel licence holder was complaining about unauthorized use.

They used to have an office and a handful of investigators in Edmonton.
