Was out at the range with a buddy last night. He was sighting in his new Sako 85 in 270 Win. Finally got it reasonably sighted in at 100 yards. None of the groups at 100 yards were great, maybe 2", but centered properly.

For fun, started shooting at the 300 yard javelinas. The POI drifted approximately 4-6" to the right and consistency was poor. The wind was mostly from our back. He tried to different Winchester factory 130 gr loads with similar results. He then tried some of my reloaded 130 gr shells. The windage seemed to come back in line and maybe actually moved slightly left of centre.

Are these Sako's very particular on what they like for ammo?

Never had any problems with my Sako m75 rifles or my Tikka T3's with factory ammo but I shot premium ammo--all 1" or under. My reloads for my rifles is incredible. I dont have an m85 Sako rifle-I prefer the stock on the m75's myself.

Try some other ammo-I will suggest Winchester Supreme 140gr Accubonds or WS Elite XP3's in 130 or 150gr.
Next would be Federal 140gr Accubonds or TSX's

4-6 inches of drift at 300 isn't at all unusual. The gun is no doubt capable of subMOA with most decent factory stuff, and much better with a wee tuned olad. Stay with it, it's there.
