So im heading to the South Saskatchewan tomorrow morning to try my luck at getting my first sturgeon.

I was just gunna use a pikeral rig with minnows....is this the best approach?

Is there a better way...what kinda rig should i use?

I dont need secret spots....nothing like that...just a little help would be nice....

Thanks all...and ill post how i do.

that will work. find a slower deeper section and fish your bait on the bottom.

The rig will work , it increases the catch of other species. It also greatly reduces the strength of your setup. I use a fixed weight , not a slip weight but the idea is the same. Single hook with worms , add fresh bait often to keep a good scent.

ok went out 3 of us caught 6 sturgeon in total..all real small...maybe 20-24"

Had lots of fun....used minnows and worms....caught goldeye...suckers...burbot.....
