I am curious to what everybody is using for a 22-250 for coyotes? I am thinking about getting into the 'yote hunting and am not sure what exactly to buy for a new gun. most guys around here run mostly 22-250 rather than 204 or 223 so i'd like to stick to that. are many people using a 243 for coyotes? maybe thinking about a laminate stock??also recommend some optics if you wish...

I have a Savage 11GCN with the Accutrigger in 22-250. Light and the thing flat out shoots. Had a 204 before and really like that cartridge for yotes but got a 22-250 for the heavier bullet available in case I have to terminate a wolf or two this winter.

If you want to save hides and sell them with a minor entry hole and no exit hole as that is important to getting prime dollar for your hides, I'd recommend the .223 as a caliber of choice. Now, if you are looking for deadly accurate, I'd recommend a Savage or Stevens. Just today, I put one right thru the neck of a bitch coyote at 223 yards with my Stevens 200 modified. I was shooting 55gr. Hornady VMax. :) I used to hunt yotes with a 22-250 but realized too much pelt damage for optimum sales profit, the .223 is better suited for my needs.

I use a Remington 700 SPS Varmint in .22-250, the stock seems pretty flimsy but I'll replace that soon. It was accurate straight out of the box and has done me well so far. The only thing though, with a 26'' heavy barrel your need to have a bipod for it, it's too front heavy to shoot accurately off hand.

I use a Remington stainless fluted in .220 swift. 6.5-20x scope. Love that round and i dont worry about pelt damage as it is head shots only.
