Hey everyone, so I gots a plan in the works for August to kill a good weekend in kananaskis. The only problem is I don't know where to start. I wanna get out and flail the fly rod around in the worst way, does anybody have any information on good rivers, creeks, streams, lakes or ponds in that area that would be worthwhile? As well as what species I'm most likely to find and where?

Rawson Lake and Pickle Jar Lakes are a few nice places to catch some cutties.

By parks license I'm assuming you mean a national parks fishing license. As noted, K country is not a national park, so no, you don't need it. In fact, Much of K country isn't any sort of park at all. There are provincial parks and Wildland Parks (also provincial) within it. You don't need special license to fish in provincial parks.

Next question, is firepower for bear defence permitted? :scared0018:

some areas are Provincial parks, so no. Other areas, yes. I'd rather have bear spray anyway, I'm not a real good shot with a 700 grizz barreling down on me
