Hello everybody. I hope this is a correct section for my question. And my first post :)

Anybody has experience with guided fishing trips in Alberta or BC?

I am not an outdoorsy person and cant stand campsites but my husband loves fishing so I figured that the guided fishing trip could be a good compromise for both of us.

What I am looking for is a type of vacation package where the stay is in normal lodge/hotel and there are a few fishing trips for half/full day for whatever fish is in season. Plus some other outdoors trips available. No longer than 4 nights or so.

For example:

I would really appreciate a personal experience/suggestions/input.

Thanks!!!

Check out STS for sturgeon, in BC.stay in a hotel, they pick you up, large comfortable jet boats, bring some beers! Beautiful scenery, and supposedly consistent fishing, a few of my buddies have gone and had a blast.

I stayed here a while ago and really enjoyed the location and fishing. This is a little more rustic but way more reasonable than a hotel and fishing guide. No fishing guide required either. They rent boats for 50 a day too.

And not to far away from Kelowna or Vernon if you want to go to town for the evening.

Only time I hired a fishing guide 3 years ago in the okanagon was 5 hundred for the day, during the offseason. A place like Postill with accomodations and boat are a fraction of the price of a one day fishing guide.

Here is another that you should call. They take care of you from the time you get there until the time you leave. Haven't heard a bad word about them yet.

If you would like a great salmon trip. Give me a call. I have the perfect place, great fishing, affordable, drive to location, and perfect for a couple. Not over the top fancy, just real family type setting. Small operation, only about 6 people per trip. (and no its not my business, just been with them for years and they are great people.

PM if you'd like more details.

That Maligne trip looks awesome. Hope to do it this summer. Fishing is slow but I hear the scenery is unreal.

Ive been to the Fraser River Lodge near Agassiz, BC twice. This place is a seriously classy outfit. Its not cheap, but their accommodations and hospitality are a '10' and their guides are great.

Caught a bunch of big Chinooks with them and some big sturgeon as well. High recommended.

I second Winifred lake lodge I have been there quite a few times. Different packages available to suit your budget and desire. Great people and amazing fishing. Tons of walleye and the pike are big , bad and hungry . Can't describe it well enough... Everyone should give it a try at least once. I keep going back for more, the smiles and fish keep getting bigger.:sHa_shakeshout:

Check out these posts on winefred, I contributed as well

Me and my wife have been going to painters lodge for about 5 years now, we love the area and the views but.... the service has gotten worse and worse every year we went there. We used the "experienced" guides fresh out of high school for 1 year then found our own off resort the rest of the years.
needless to say we planned another vacation else where this year.

very is nice room and veiw, food is very good, service as good as tim hortons on good days.

If you book there be prepared, phone ahead a week before you get there make sure they got your reservation right! and fishing times!

my 2 cents...
Mike
