ive fished flotten quite a few times. Pretty quiet lake, don't see too many boaters ever.
had good luck around the islands, especially between the 2. the island right in front of the launch holds walleye on the right side.

The bar the extends out to the mid lake hump is treacherous, dont be out there at night till you map out the problem spots. The mid lake hump actually has a channel that runs through it, trolling the channel is productive.

I've always had a good time. Waterhen is good too, west bank weedline holds tones of fish but its a popular lake with lots of campers and water pressure. I had a tough time at Lac des isles.

L. Thompson spoons in size 1 worked well when I was up there.

ShadRap in perch also worked well.

Could be tough going. Was out north of Lloyd yesterday and the fish aren't where they should be yet. Suckers were still in the creek and full of eggs ( much to my sons surprise when he grabbed one ). Walleye was slow , but did get some. Ice hasn't been off long enough , water temp even in back bays was only 12.8C

After that trip - we were not terribly impressed with the lake - however, I did land a decent 8 lber (my first and largest fish out of Flotten). Fishing was "average".

Be careful around the islands - there are giant rocks - the size of small cars only a foot or two below the surface. The rocks run quite a ways north of the islands (maybe 600 yards or more) so it looks like you are safe - but be vigilant.

There are also a couple rock piles in some unsuspecting areas to look out for - so get a hold of a map of the lake if you can find one.

Good Luck ..... it is, however a pretty nice lake and probably has some potential.

Well we did the trip and the fishing was mediocre as otherssuggested it might be . It seems that others there were catching some decent numbers earlier on Friday before we arrived. There was apparently a 27lb pike caught Friday morning. We fished the river by the cabin Friday evening as our rental boat was not available till saturday morning. My friends son caught one pike that was about 6 lb . Saturday we were out alll day ,staring with rain and wind and then sun then wind and had no luck other than one that got off before it was in the net. In the evening we fished the river and managed a on nice pike and a Walleye. The pike was an epic battle as it fought from under the bridge in a fairly strong current.Without braided line I don't think it would have been landed as the line was badly damage from teeth as well as from the bridge .
had a great time over all and hope to get back up there and try some of the other lakes in the park.
