Headed to Bridge Lake BC June 9-14. Never fished for Kokanee before. Would like to try and land a few. Have trolling rods, downriggers, etc. Just looking for any advice people are willing to share. Lure selection, trolling tactics, bait, etc?

Thanks in advance.

I have used a silver willow leaf troll with a couple of maggots on the hook in Lake Pond Oreille in Idaho.

We used a sonar and most times when you went over a school we hooked up.

Use a wedding band on your set up as well..You can get them at any fishing store

I will take some wedding bands. Anyone ever try a flasher with tiny hoochies?

I have also caught a few kokanee with simply a red devil spoon. The gangtrolls are a good suggestion.

Willow leaf or Ford fender troll with a Wedding ring about 18 inches behind troll, worms or maggots or frozen shrimp on hook,

you may wish add a "snubber" between troll and wedding ring lure, as Kokanne have tender mouth/gums and the snubber reduces lost fish from the lips tearing away when hooked,

My go to set up is a swivel followed by a big flashy spoon. Take the hook off the spoon and attach a steel leader (black) thats at least 16inches long. Then attach the smallest five of diamonds you can find and your good to go!. The leader is firm enough to stop the five o diamonds from tangling in the rest of the rig. Some folks use a piece of rubber band before the hook as these fish have a very soft mouth. I just try and not set the hook like im salmon fishing lol.

Set up four soft action rods with 1/2 thru3-4 oz of lead
every 30 min change color of wedding band spinner.and fresh maggots. In a short while one colour and depth will show more action . Switch all rods to within a 1/2 oz of the rod getting the most fish. 1.2 -1.7 mph should work best.happy trolling.:)

As Fish Gunner said, troll slow!

Most important thing is to troll as slow as possible... In not getting hit go slower make s bends or circles and even take the engine out of gear if need be. My favorite lure for Korea is the watermelon apex koan killer. Works when they aren't taking anything else. Fish behind lake troll.

Like a few said..the slower the better. Drive your boat in a curving zig-zag slowly and you'll likely find that the rod on the inside of the turn whose lure is moving the slowest will start picking up more fish.

X2 on all of the above

Best luck for me has been pink or glow in the dark wedding bands
