I went up today to try this place for the first time just nw of fort assinibione. Seemed to me the water was pretty murky and I only caught a fingerling and had hits on my flies from other small size fish. I approached it with a trout fishing background and hit seams and backflows. Still, I wasn't able to do much in the 3 hours I was there although I only covered maybe 500m of water. Any tips on what kind of areas grayling would be holding in? I tried nymph drifting, small dry flies, and even a streamer. Virtually no rises and it was too murky to spot fish so I was fishing more or less blind.

I would try south of swan hills off hwy 32. That section holds alot more grayling. River is quite a bit different up there, and not as off colour. I have not made it out this year but have heard water levels are quite high, flooding the campground on hwy 32.

You are to far downstream for this time of the year.
Head NW. FYI, this stream is always off color.
Upstream it's tea stained. Best visibility is about 3 feet.
