Just wondering what the essentials are for when it comes to items to bring. I'm going more primeative by using nature as my tools. Lean too for a shelter, stick for my roasting stick etc etc... I already have some items that I'm going to bring but would like to brainstorm some. Thanks

Good backpacking boots, made of fullgrain leather and the sweat of the guy that handmade them. Zamberlans and Asolos are good brands to start with.

You will never regret spending too much, but you will likely regret spending too little. Be prepared to drop $300 or more.

There are lots of great threads in the hunting discussion forum on this. You can look at fairly exhaustive lists of gear and then leave items out. MEC has a good list as well:

One of the best threads that steered me in a good direction putting my pack items together was this sheephunting gear list:

Other good ones are:

Go through those and figure out what you already have and what you may need. There's lots of info/reviews on here about specific gear if you're ever in doubt.

Look at the Hanwaag boots, still hand made in Germany and the Trapper Tops are the standard for sheep hunters. I have owned four pairs of Hanwaags over the years, tough boots. You can fin them at Track and Trail in Edmonton.
