I just walked outside the house with cabertosser and a guy walking down the street walks up to the white car across from my house and tries to open the car door. He keeps walking and tries another car. I called him out...likely not the smartest thing as he turned around and approached.

After a short chat about him just looking for cigarettes I tell him to leave. He turns and walks off back down the street the way he came

I quickly called into 911 about the attempted break ins and with 2 minutes hawks was circling. They quickly found him and apparently got him on camera trying to break int vehicles.

The apprehended him!

Pretty great job. Very lucky hawks was right there at the right time.

You kidding. With him holding them big wrenches he could body guard for the Pope.

That guy was sketchy, he stood out like a sore thumb in Sundance's nice 'hood. Tall lanky dude with no shirt, 6'3" or so but all of a buck 60.He had 4 or 5 inches of underwear preceding his pants; his brain fried from some combination of chemicals and/or liquor and/or spray paint. After I left I saw some police down the street taking witness statements from a group of young teens, I stopped and wrote one out as well. Hawc's showed up within probably 3-5 minutes of the original call.

Huh, wouldn't get that kind of response time in any of the hoods I've lived in.

Ever notice how often bad news is just down the block from this guy?

Sundance thanks for calling that in. I was wondering what the Helio was doing circling.

Sundance thanks for calling that in. I was wondering what the Helio was doing circling.

I made the classic mistake of telling him to cut it out and leave. When he approached us he looked like he was a tad aggressive. With caber there I think he had second thoughts.

I got lucky maybe. He was arrested trying to hide in the park. Police found him with a hammer and knife in hand.

Not the passive burglar type I am thinking.

Someone also said a person matching his description was scene near there house breakin. They figure he was there for over 15 minutes. Hen stole their SUV and crashed it.

I mentioned they should call the police and mention the possible link.

with the summer here there are more folks living in Fish Creek park. They seem to come out at odd hours. For the most part they seem to mind their own business, harmless, rummage thru recycle etc. But given the "knife n hammer" I think I'll start call in more often.

The current thing they are doing is checking garage doors late at night for entry into the home. From there they steal car keys and anything else they can steal.

Or they get into cars (locked or otherwise), then they find the garage door opener and bingo, they have easy access to the house (for attached garages like that neighborhood anyways). One good reason to have those garage door openers located somewhere different, the cars with built-in ones might be better off not having that feature programmed.

Friend of mines wife was being stocked at her house and was harrassed by two russian dudes in Stony Plain last night posing as Christians. They came to her door and she of course is smart and figured it out that they were up to no good, and were casing the joint. The Christian stuff was to figure out if they were church goers, so they could prey on them l8 we figured. Once she figured out they knew nothing about the Lord, she asked them to leave. One of these lowlifes moved up her steps with a closed fist. She was holding a 6 month old baby girl with 3 other girls in the basement. She closed the door and locked it. They walked away got their car down the block, drove past 3 times, and then stopped. The stared at the house for 10-15 while at one point in the middle of the road, before pulling off to the side.

What was disconcerting is she called the RCMP, and they told her they were on shift change but were loaded ready to go. They took 10-15 minutes to get there, when the drive was 2 mins tops, and their police.

The officers stopped the dudes, and talked to them. But then left before them. Now from my point of view they should have escorted these bums at least outta town, I know there is no legality in which the two men could be detained. These bums drove to end of block parked until I arrived looking surly, and my buddy was on route, and told me to haul ars because I could get their sooner then him cause he was half hour away.

With the crap that happened in Calgary, whats going on here? These officers were at the station according to dispatch. Doing shift change?

Glad your story shows a timely response and the hawks apprehended the suspect, but sometimes you wonder what is going on with them too.:angry3:

talked with an older lady today. Before I said anything about my suspect she gave a strikingly similar description of someone that broke into their house while they were sleeping and took off with their SUV and destroyed it. They are still finding things missing from the house. They finger printed so hopefully they caught the same guy.

Pretty frightening. Broke through a basement window.
