Pretty ignorant if you ask me. I have seen guys do this in open windows of vehicles, extremely stupid.

Ok, lets go back to square One. The cyclists are riding on that shoulder, illegal. Got a diesel truck that smokes when you accelerate, what are you gonna do about it ? Cyclists are taking their lives in their hands on that narrow shoulder, especially with the extra wide mirrors some trucks come with. only a matter of time before Darwin kicks in. It's a motorized vehicle road, Get over it.

From the CONTROLS of a 3000lb + vehicle. maybe one should get some lessons before they get behind the controls of 7000lb + vehicle if cyclists are an scary obstacle. First off the guy is a total dirt bag. What brain cells he had he burnt up breathing that coal, Heck he gives red necks a bad name. But people who think its cool to see coal run out the exhaust from over fueling, lugging the transmission like that ( bet you has replaced the transmission since that was filmed as well as injectors ($700 ea) and maybe even an injection pump ($3000) + maybe a head gasket or 2 and maybe even a camshaft. So in the end this dirt bag has payed for his sins. Heck people like him keep people like me employed.
as for Sneeze and Grizzly Adams, they have the same right to be there as you do. You as a responsible driver have to watch out for anything that could cause an accident and avoid it. No matter if its a bicycle or a broke down vehicle pulled way over. They are not riding illegal, and from the numbers I would bet they are in either an endurance race or training for one.

Commuter cycling has never been big in North America. Mountain biking is big, road biking seems to be growing and people use them to commute to work. But almost nobody has a commuter style bike like this and uses it as primary transportation. It results in people thinking the road belongs to cars and trucks.

I started commuting to work on the bike two years ago. 20 k ride and I get the wife to drop me off in the morning and I bike home.

I ride on a rural highway, with a fairly narrow shoulder. I can't say one bad word about the people in my community.....they have been extremely courteous and respectful. I am really grateful for it.

That said, I wear really bright colours when I ride so they can see me.

I think that you'd have to have some kind of deep rooted self esteem issues to find being a knob like that enjoyable.

I don't see how the cyclists are keeping the "driver" from getting anywhere any faster.

If they are, he should turn in his license. I'm sure there are a couple of street bikes and cars that he is probably holding up as well.

Here in Canada, we enjoy some pretty good and wide roads, and the freedom to tune our vehicles in a pretty much unlimited fashion. However, one of these morons who just don't know how to run their diesels in the right way, and use respect and their gears will unwittingly (even more unwitting, if possible) will "roll coal" on the wrong person. They might not get their comeuppance right then and their, but down the road someone will be drafting legislation on mods and pollution controls on these "coal burners".

Witness the noise law on the bikes around Edmonton, and the ones most affected are the V-twins who stand to lose the most performance and/or gain the biggest ugliest pipes as a result. Don't think that was accidental, or caused by reasonable use of performance exhaust.

I don't doubt a set of those pipes was farther away than just across the street of a council member.

Look at the video. Those aren't road racers. I suspect those people are part of a ride such as The Ride to Conquor Cancer.

Cyclists riding on the side of the road pose no unecessary traffic risk. Pull into the other lane and give them some room, or slow down. It's not difficult, except for morons with chips on their shoulders. If a person doesn't like cyclists on the shoulder, how about they pull out and take a lane? for themselves You can follow them at 5 mph until you can safey pass.

It is not illegal to operate a bicycle on a highway or roadway. This is clearly articulated in the TSA.

There...

I figured since there was some serious reading comprehension (and roadway knowledge) issues happening here, I figured I'd spell it out legally for everyone.

As far as riding on sidewalks, I believe it is in the local bylaws, as I know it is illegal to ride on any sidewalk in calgary if you are over 14.

Note that TSA doesn't mention anything about sidewalks.

I'm comforted by the fact that the vast majority of the replies to this posting condemned the actions of this driver.

Sadly the video only shows that the occupant & driver of the truck have huge feelings of inadequacy & they must use the truck's power to compensate for their inadequacies.

Maybe someone took his plate number......

I'm wondering if the scum bag can be located via his posting on youtube, be interesting if he got lots of emails calling him out.

Food for thought. I am an old person and I remember doing things in my youth that I would not do now. Burning bag of poop and ringing door bells. I wonder if the people that are complaining about this individuals actions may not have done something in their youth that would compare. When I see young people doing things that I find unsavory I do have to take a step back at times and think "Yup, at that time in my life I would have found that awesome". If you don't agree with me, that's cool. You had a boring youth.
