Question for all the farmer/ranchers on here, I have a small Alphalfa/grass field which usually produces around 28 big rounds.
Past years I just let the local farmer cut and bale for nothing other than a little horse trading, etc.
My question is, if I let him cut and bale with his equipment and I want to keep some myself , what is the going rate 50:50? 2/3 and 1/3??

I used to take 1/3 or the cash equivalent. In recent years I have not found much interest in doing only 20 acres so I give all the hay away to just get the job done.

I wouldn't do it for any less than 2/3.

Yep, 1/3 is the norm.
Been having a local farmer cut our field for 5 yrs now, 100 acres apprx.
Not too concerned with the value he suggested, $30 for big rounds, $10 ea is ours.
Been getting 100 to 175 bales depending on the amt of rain.
If he didn't cut it, the field would be a big matted mess.

1/2 to one third depending on the quality of the stand. Of it's thin you only get a third if it's really good you get half. For 28 bales I'd say you get a 1/3 would be fair depending on travels times etc.

I hurt a persons feelings tonight telling her I wouldn't drive 50 miles round trip to cut 2 acres.

50/50

Did that, but we also shared the input costs. Son has about 15 acres and he does 50/50 with a neighbor, no input costs. But then, he's a good neighbor.

If it is doing only 1 bale to the acre i would not even want it.
2 bales/acre i take 3 you get 1
3 bales or more an acre 1/3 for you 2/3 for me.
I could not be bothered to travel any distance for less than 50 acre

I have 20 acres near Calgary, a nearby farmer has been cutting & baling on a 50/50 split for the last 20 years !
