Blue green algae

What does it look like? Yes, I googled it, and nothing points to what i witnessed.. I was at a lake recently, where just in one area, the weeds and algae were very thick, and there were thousands and thousands of blue things floating that looked like, with
no better way to describe it, dog turds. Most about 1-2" long. What is this? Never seen it before, wish I'd taken a picture.

What you likely saw was blue/green algae. To me it looks like sewage floating on top of the water and I find it disgusting. When the water isn't disturbed too much it makes a mat of green on top of the water and when it starts to bloom there are patches of blue on top of it. Once disturbed it'll break up in chunks.

It stinks, looks disgusting and I hate having to go near it. :sick:
