The provincial motto is actually "Fortis et Liber", which translates to "Strong and Free". I think that's a fine licence plate motto. Beats "Wild Rose Country"

What the heck is a fether?

Whatever it is, it means nothing to me or the majority.

I like the Strong mentioned by oko. But nothing is free here and we are not free.
Everywhere you turn, there are shackles.

How about. "Slower vehicles keep right. Get outta my way a-hole" :)
Of course we would have to have a license plate on the front of out trucks and printed backwards so ppl could read it in their mirrors....

Seriously, I think this move is going to be a other flop just like JJ flipping on his request for a list of all the bad teachers.

Change is coming for this province. Not just license plates.

We have a bunch of baffoons in power.

I like my MLA but I don't like her party.
It's going to be interesting in Sherwood Forest with two former Mayors going for office.
Can you say Cat fight?

I personlly like being "free" My forefathers died so I can be free. If it sounds like American so what, I am proud to be Strong and Free. Better than Communist! Don't like Stong and Free then I am sure there are communist nations looking for new citizens

Although I did see a giant map of Alberta in the back of someone's truck window yesterday, with the aforementioned "blank off, we're full" motto. Gotta admit...I had to laugh.

This is interesting.

Wonder if any 'Murican ever thinks "boy that sounds too ____________". (Insert Canadian, British, French, Cambodian or what ever". I can't let that define what I might think. Or if they just compare the saying or thought to themselves and what they may like.

Don't know why we can't be a little self confident and hate a little less.

BTW I think that for the most part Americans are neither brave nor free and singing that beautiful anthem of theirs is only wishful thinking.

I always liked the slogan on Fort McMurray's welcome to the area sign. Their slogan reads "We have the energy" and I think this slogan would be very appropriate for Alberta licence plates and especially when one travels outside of the province.

I agree....that one is much better than the others, and it was designed by an actual Albertan! Not an American company cooking a deal by offering crumbs for free.

Well then just call it "Strong and Free". In English. No need for the foreign language phrases that you need google to figure out what it means. It would almost sound like a university then
