Back when I had my own flooring company in the 1980's it was named 'Floors by George', and 'by George' that worked because my first name is 'George' :)

When I was setting up the company I was advised to have the word 'floors' or 'flooring' first because then it would come up easily when people searched for the topic.

Good luck with the venture.

Unfortunately, I am out of names now after just naming my new business.

One tip though, check if the (.ca) domain is still available. That way you can book it and it's also a good indicator that the name is still not in use. While you can have a similar or even the same name when registering a trade name, I would avoid that!

Grab the domain (e.g. $13/year with namespro) for your name even if you don't plan on having a homepage. I think it will deter others from using the same company name as the domain is already taking. Btw, having a (small) homepage I think is crucial nowadays. People mostly google companies and they will only find you if you have a homepage.

Let me know if you need help with setting up something simple like a virtual business card or so.

No specific name suggestions. However, with home renos, I'd avoid cutesie or joke names and choose one that suggests experience, trust-worthiness, stability, service, etc. I want someone working on my home who is serious and dependable, not a jokester who thought up a snappy name over a few beers.... (see above, LOL)

This is why I avoided 'timber pimp' and opted for my initials before 'construction'. It's simple, and commonly done, but I feel it assures potential customers that I am literally willing to put my name behind my work. A personal guarantee of sorts.

Exactly right. Try something that has appeal based on a positive mental connection...'Heritage Floors' (as mentioned above, I just noticed), "Prestige Flooring" "Integrity Floors' etc.

Then you can put a snappy motto under it, like 'U Pay, We Lay'.....:)
I couldn't resist either.

Again as a potential customer I see some names and I shake my head and think that is the last guy I want doing any work for me....

A nice professional name, that is non- geographical specific in case you expand....

Like how Lac-le Biche transport is based out of a different city... ?!?!?!

If you have your name in it it also means you are willing to stand behind your product.

make sure you have floors or flooring in your name for a google searche....

Use a name that will come to the top of a Google search. May not be sexy, but that is how most customers will looking for installers. So, what would you key in if you were looking ?

Good luck. I also do commercial flooring. Some shops/installers are getting hungry, but there still seems to be plenty of work out there.

Are you gonna specialize in hardwood , tile, or carpet ? If so, keep that in mind.
For example, if I was gonna search for "hardwood flooring" Thats what I would do a google search for. As others have said, a website with key search words on the main page so it shows at the top of google searches.

A simple but informative web site is worth thousands of potential customers these days. And make it so that there is no upkeep for it such as, no prices that have to be changed every month but have email and have it go to your phone or wife check it hourly . customer service is key so timely responses is needed. I hate it when I send a business a email and don't get a reply for 24 hrs. even if it's a automatic response that we have recieved your email and will get back to you asap is great. Same thing with phone mesages.

Sorry I don't have a name for you but there are a few gooders posted allready.
