At what size would you say okay that bad boys going on the wall?

I have had my luck with larger trout this year and I don't know at what point do I say I'm never catching a bigger fish than this ad have em mounted. I'm big on c&r so replicas would be a fine alternative.

My main fish in question are trout
I have had a few 24" bows this year
2 30" lake trout one capping at 11lbs
And 2 browns with lengths over 32"

Browns over 32 would definitely be trophy quality. I think you can find lakers with much more length than 30". There are rainbows out there that are much bigger than 24" and you can find them with time and knowledge of the right spots.

Not much experience with trout, but I'm waiting for the arrival of my 11lb 8 ouce 33.5 inch Walleye.

Always had it in my head if I caught a walleye north of 10lbs, a perch north of 2lbs or a pike north of 20lbs I'd mount 'em if I could afford it.

Wife got my walleye mounted for my 30th birthday.

I'd say the Browns would be worth it. As for the Rainbows and Lakers, I've caught numerous at that size and it didn't even cross my mind to mount them.

A 33.5 in Wally should weigh more than that, my 31.5, while a little extra chubby, was 12 lbs. She's on my wall now:)

Its different for everyone. ..in every province.... dependant on how much you fish. .. my mount size is.. perch- ove 2lbs... walleye-12lbs and over. ... bass over 6lbs... pike over 28lbs. ... whitefish over 7lbs.... crappie. Over 2.5lbs.... rainbow.... over 19lbs.... laker over 40lbs.... salmon over 40lb.... musky.... over 50lb.... brown over 14lbs...but not... over 15lbs....
these are my goals. .. now mind you I fish a few provinces so mine r really high. If I only fished alberta my trout would be lower...

I caught a walleye just shy of 31 inches the other day. .. snapped a few pics and released. It was over 10lb and under 11.5 with my guesstimate. ..

Mountain whitefish over 5lbs

Those browns would take some time to top in Alberta, but the rest shouldn't be too tough.

Probably mount a coloured up buck cutty over 8lbs too.

Are you hoping to catch it in Alberta? My lofty goal is 5lbs.

Pike over 30
Walleye over 12
Laker over 40
Large mouth over 10
Small mouth over 7

Those are my standards for wall worthy fish. Can't comment on other species since I dont fish for them often enough.

It's totally doable in Alberta, but not really in my fishing jurisdiction.

Mine was out of Ontario, it was quite a bit thicker than most of the ones I've seen on this site caught out of local rivers. IIRC, the girth was around 18 inches. It was a very fat fish. Congrats on the near 31, my best in Alberta is only 25 unfortunately. I caught a fat 22 incher at PCR a few hours ago:)

If the fish has a story behind it or if you are proud and want to remember it forever.....mount it. I have never worried of what others say. My walleye was north of 10 lbs (never weighed it) 31" and a 15.5" circumference was a beauty and it's with Alex right now.

Devils Lake, ND? If so, you'll have a fantastic chance of reaching that goal.

I dont have many fish mounted, but the ones I do arent mounted because they are or were the biggest fish I have caught. For instance, I mounted the last brook trout I caught out of a lake i used to hike in and fish regularly with my dad prior to moving to Canada. They have sense moved away from that area and I have not been able to make it back since (6 years now). Still a decent brook trout at 20 inches, but by far not the biggest I have caught, but one of the most memberable for sure.
