Has anyone fished Payne Lake? I understand there are a few trout to be had, just wondering if it is worth the trip.

Depend on where you live and if you have a boat. If you live close to the lake then yes. If you have a boat and can troll the banks near the southwest corner of the lake then yes.
You can get fish from shore but to get out there is your best bet. Nice country side view no matter where you are on the lake.

Any sign of algae bloom, green paint on all the rocks a few years ago. Before they raised the water level.

I was there a couple weeks ago and the water was nice, no algae. People were set up using pickeral rigs and powerbait catching a few trout from shore. Nice lake.

Long drive to find out my old friend the wind has kicked it into high gear.

Can get nasty in a hurry so be aware, went down once and did not hit any wind until almost Mountview and then bam there she was.

Nice lake to fish but Chain is a lot closer.
