Kootenay lake - summer months

Going out to the lake for a couple weeks. What depth do you expect them to be? Any way to find the thermocline, without an expensive sonar. Have dipsy divers up to 100' no down riggers. Better summer lures? Thanks.

I was at Kootenay first week of July. You don't need to find the thermocline, just find the bait. I caught a gerrard in 60', couple dollies 80-100'. That's was then... I caught all my fish when in 150-250' fow. All caught on a rainbow Lyman
