Hey everyone. I'm hoping to get a little help in selecting ammo for this years hunting season. I've been using Hornady Superformance SST 165 grain for it but it seems these are getting harder and harder to find. Anyone else have some suggestions so I can get it tuned in before the season? I'm hoping to save some time rather than try a ton out if someone has already been down this path. I don't reload yet - that's next year I hope. Any help would be appreciated.

:)

I had good luck with Hornady 165 BTSP also.

Factory load wise, i havent seen a Savage 111 or Axis shoot the Winchester Supreme 168 grain Nosler Combined Technologies round badly yet. Was just out this past weekend with a Savage 111 i have for sale and it clocked the first shot at 2900 and the next two in the high 2800's. Under 1" groups.... It also does well in the missus Axes in .30-06

Try federal fusion 165's chances are your groups will tighten up it seems to shoot well out of most rifles

The fusion's are a great bullet, tough but good expansion and inexpensive. That would be my choice.

I liked Remington Cor-lokt when I wasn't hand loading. Most any ammo shoots well in an 06 Savage.
