Anybody have one? Feedback? Accuracy? Number of shots before drift? (ie- can you get a five shot group in say 1min? 2min?). And, really pushing it here, anybody have that for 280 remington? I'm thinking about that cartridge.
Thanks

My brother has one in a 7-08. Beautiful gun, nice handling, and deadly accurate.

I have the Remington 700 Mountain rifle in .280. Its not the stainless laminated but blued/walnut. Ita a great gun to pack, points and handles nice, with 139 Hornady handloads giving the barrel time to cool it will shoot .5 in groups.
As well I have a Remington 700 from Remingtons custom factory in 700 mag,the best I have shott with it was with hornady 162 into .3 in.
Hope this helps

What sort of cooling times? Between shots or groups? And I hope you mean 300 mag
What do you think of the 280? How does it shoot with the heavier bullets?
Thanks

Sorry I messed up,the one rifle is a 7mm mag not the 700 mag oops.
As far as liking the .280 its my go to rifle I absolutly love the cartridge, its flat shooting, hits hard, doesnt kick much and will shoot a wide range off bullets.
I have played mainly with the 130-139 weight and have found no need for anything heavier, with the 139 handload I have had complete pass threws on moose broadside at 200 yards .
Cooling times when working out handloads is a few minutes between groups, this will also depend on what the outside temp is on any given day
If you are close by pm me you are more than welcome to shoot both guns to see for yourself if you like how they handle recoil ect

You that bad a shot that you think you are going to need 5 shots to dispach the animal? Just kidding. I always sort of wondered why we cared past the second shot in the group if we are just talking about big game hunting.

Well, two reasons... I like the idea of the ability to do three shot groups (haven't needed to, but like it). The second is... I like to shoot. I used to shoot on other people's coin (military). So... I shot fairly fast. I still like to shoot fairly fast. My present rifle (voere cougar) doesn't seem to like more than two shots in a few minutes... I'd like to be able to shoot 3 to 5 shots with only a few minutes between groups(ok, not in middle of July...). At this time, I can't afford rifles dedicated to one job... maybe in a few years I can get a higher volume rifle for fun... but it would be no fun to carry in the mountains...
Thanks

I have a Remington Mtn LSS in 270 WIN. It is my go to deer rifle. It is an easy carry for all day walking and stalking. It is very attractive and well balanced rig. I am partial to stainless steel in a deer rifle for Alberta...our weather sucks big time. I like the shorter 22" barrel for bush hunting yet with a 270, you can tag a deer at long ranges. Recoil is moderate with the R-3 recoil pad they come with. The new Remington trigger works extremely well....no adjustment required. My rifle produced 3/4" groups @ 100 yards during break in and scope sighting right from the box, using factory 130 Hornady Interbonds. I like it!
The MTN LSS is Remington's best kept secret.

I have the 7-08 LSS. Great little gun. Have not worked with it much yet.
A frien of mine has the 30-06 LSS. This one is a great shooter. .5MOA the first time we had to the range. Not bad for a light barrel.

I spent a fair time at the range this summer and early fall with my buddies in 7mm-08. Its a sweet little gun and a very interesting caliber. I ran 5 or 6 different types of ammo through it all shot around 1 inch at 100 yards. It did seem better if I let it cool a bit between shots at least a minute or 2. it had a fair bit of muzzle jump off the bench, to be expected with a light gun. The trigger was brutal, bought 2 years ago the new remi trigger is suppose to be much better. Got a triiger job done by rick at Alberta Tactical and he fixed it up nice, very crisp.
His needs to be free floated there is a 1.5 in long spot where the barrel channel pushes up against the bbl, but I will get to that when I get it back after hunting season.
Personally the rifle feels too small for me but that is just me it fits my buddy great and is a very nice light gun.
good luck in your search
