Mounting a Transducer on a trolling motor?

I just got my inflatable setup with a Min Kota trolling motor and I am trying to figure out how to mount my old Eagle Fish Finder Transducer. I think I should be able to mount it to the trolling motor itself and hold the suction cup in place with two hose clamps around the motor body? I've seen this in a few photos.

Few questions for you guys:

1.) Is this too close to the prop?

2.) Would this affect the performance of the motor?

3.) Can you mount it sideways along the side of the motor, that way I could push it farther away from the prop.

I'm not exactly sure how the transducers work or the proper position, I've always just had it pointed backwards like it is in the photo. Is this the proper way, and do they end up shooting sonar straight out of their bases down to the lake bottom?

I did something similar to your photo, except mounted the transducer perpendicular to case so I can keep the cable as far away from the prop. I've had no issues with performance with the motor or sonar

I saw one at the lake that I thought was a good idea - the guy drilled a hole through the fin on the motor and removed the bracket and just bolted on the transducer to the fin.

As long as you are not bouncing off rocks you should be ok.

That's a really good idea actually. I ended up finding a universal mounting bracket laying around that worked with a single hose clamp.

You can buy the hose clamp bracket pretty well at any fish store.

I use mine all the time on my pond boat no problems

Nothing fancy. When I upgraded my sonar I mounted this one up front, only use it when I'm casting and want to maintain a certain depth.
