after a slow 3 weeks and a 2 sturgeon weekend last week, the rain started, the river cooled and muddied up and it turned into an 18 dino weekend. major milestone for me, in my fourth season of fishing for these awesome creatures I landed my 500th dino Friday night. not a biggie but still pretty exciting for me. this weekend they ranged from 15 inches to another hog at 61 1/4 inches. havent checked all my sheets but I am sure I am at 10 or more 5 foot plus fish this season, going to be some pretty crazy spawning runs in the next few years since most were fat and full of eggs. :sHa_shakeshout:

managed to make my season goal of 100 fish and a couple extra, with 2 months of good fishing to go :sHa_shakeshout:

You are the king of sturgeon Wayne ..... keep the pictures coming ..... your next goal should be breaking the 105lb record. A cradle with a scale, on a video would serve as reasonable evidence to re-write the record book.

I'm guessing that beast would be 70"-72" ..... that would be a monster.

Your next milestone should be to catch one through the ice. Congrats Wayne!

I just get lucky now and then :) already got a 72 1/2 incher last season, too bad she was spawned out. next time maybe she will be full of eggs. been hunting the 80 incher that was caught not too far from where I fished this weekend. so far.... had to dive on the rod a couple times when it got pulled in so maybe Ive been that close, who knows :thinking-006: got the scale just need that fattie to weigh in it :)

Congrats on your 500th. You may not have caught the longest or heaviest (yet), but i'm betting that you have caught more sturgeon then anyone in Albertas history, which is quite an achievement.
IMHO you deserve an award or some other recognition from the alberta govt. for your work on sturgeon tagging and sturgeon rehabilatation in general. Would like to see an article on your work in next years fishing regs. Fellow member and outdoorsman writer Neil Waugh could probably do a great feature story on your accomplishments.
