You can eat them but many prefer not too, i just like C&R on the bow since most fish give a really good fight.

Nice fish all! Geez Lethal...those are some piglet trouts. Good on you!

Well, this one was early this year in March ice fishing at Sylvan. Still the biggest pike I have had on the line and seen. 5-6 great long runs including the final one. Though it is hard to tell, this fish was definately over 20lbs. That is a 10 inch hole...landed a 16 lber the day before. I still get a kick out of hearing myself...I'm a goof

Why does everybody keep asking me that??!!
I'm not gonna post it on here.....even better....I'll take ya if you want!!!
Just kidding; yeah, it was kinda crazy that day...we were actually going for the Lake trout that were in this stream outlet feeding on Grayling...until we saw the size of the Grayling (crystal clear water)!!! Problem was; we only had our 3 WT fly-rods.....(we took in med spinning gear for the Lakers) nice problem to have eh?
We seriously caught probably a dozen this size; all on the fly; it was unreal. They were as big as some of the lakers in there. This one was 21 1/2 x 11. inches. Never forget that day.

My most notable fish of the year was my first sturgeon ever. I caught him in the NSR. I had a great year for trout as well on the fly rod. Managed to land dozens of 3 and 4 pounders. None even compared to my buddy Paul's big 8 pound rainbow though. Congrats Paul, you deserve the rainbow of the year award.....nobody puts in the time like you do!

Is there better places than others to fish Sylvan for Big Pike? I find it extrememly slow when I go there but when I do get a gator it usually is a descent fish.

Ive always had better luck in Gull Lake, Last year my buddy pulled out a 24LBer. I land lots throughout the winter in the 15-18LB range and have yet to hook into one over 20lb. Ihope this is the year

Kept the one on the rocks for supper, won't do that again

And a nice southern cutty kept for supper one night, kids that were fishing with me that day had never had fresh trout, since we were allowed we cooked up a few for them to try. I don't like killing cutties but it was for the greater good :) Biggest one i've ever cut up (40 cm or so)

11-29-2008, 06:27 PM
Salmon was 55lbs. Hali was 133lbs. Both were caught on salmon gear. This year we caught about half a dozen halibut over 50lbs while fishing for salmon...including that hog that took 2hrs to get in...on 30lbs test. Hook just barely holding on to the flap of skin that rims their mouth...stay hooked well though especially considering all the pressure we had to put on it to get it up from the bottom.

The salmon fought unreal...looking forward to next summer already :D :D
