For the last umteen years you would find me fishing the Athabasca river on the sept long weekend chasing Rocky Mountain Whites. With the river closed to keeping any due to the Mine tailings pond release, no one wants to go there this year. So off to a lake we usually fish in June. This lake has always had a decent population of Whitefish. I have never targeted them, slip bobber and a wire worm with a maggot is the only idea I come up with when on a lake from the boat. Don't have a fly rod so that's out.

Any other tips on presentation choices? Fish deeper? Near the weeds? Going to review Speckle's threads too. Kinda want to try for them and see this time around.

Thanks for any ideas.

I use Speckles tips and catch Lake Whitefish in Sylvan Lake on prince nymphs, hares ear nymphs and blood worms under an indicator in 3-7 feet of water.

Small gold kastmaster suspended under a slip bob, just off bottom, and "jigged" frequently. 6 - 10 FOW
