Just asked a guy at work who grew up in that area. Save your time and go to lac la none or dolberg for fishing in that area.

Good luck

If your talking about the peanut lake out towards barrhead it has been about 20 yrs. since I fished there but back then it was a trout lake. If your in the area anyways, and have time, what the heck. Give it a try and let us know.

Does it overwinter

Yes. There's a deep hole in the lake +/-30' and I've caught decent RB trout there in the Spring. If you want trout fishing in that area I'd suggest hitting it up. Good luck. :)

Went to Peanut once. That was enough for me. Have a few buddies that go to Dolberg ( if you know what you are up to there are some monsters in there, I have seen pics)

Anyone having luck here this winter? A friend of mine said nobody has been catching a thing in part to blue green algae that had minnows floating on the surface in the summer also looks like it winter killed again.

Never had much luck there when I lived close to there. As mentioned, hit Dolberg or Lac La Nonne.

I fish peanut every year. Amazing trout fishing before Christmas and after it tails off. Only issue is we've been noticing the trout having growths on em now. Theres also about 6" of flood water on the lake. Best to pass it now but try it next year right when the ice comes on and you can't beat it!!

Actually there is no flood water at all I was out there today, and the ice is quite thick, lots of little insects floating to the top of the holes, after a few hours and no one out there was getting any bites at all, I did manage to catch one but it was so small it was not worth keeping. A few years ago the fishing was excellent, this year not so much.
