Albacore Tuna trip report

4 of us headed to Westport, Wa for an overnight Albacore trip with Westport Charters. We headed out overnight about 50 miles and got into the Albacore at first light. when it was all said and done we had boated 167 Albacore between the 10 anglers onboard. the hardest fighting fish any of us had ever caught and a great fishing adventure. we all came home with about 150 Lbs. of Tuna filets. I would recommend this trip to any angler thats considering it!! grab a few buddies and go do it!

I've always been curious... I see guys go and catch a huge bag of tuna. Like you said 150 lbs of tuna filet. What does a person do with 150lbs of tuna??? Have any plans.

Friend of mine fishes tuna every year out of Westport. Last year he came for a visit and brought a couple dozen jars and a couple dozen packs of frozen for me. I'll never be able to eat commercial canned tuna again. May as well eat 9 lives.:sign0176:

The frozen filets are amazing on the BBQ for a few minutes each side. Thawed first of course.

a bit more money but worth it, research a boat out of Hawaii in April and go for Tuna then. If I had a choice of a 1 fish to catch for the rest of my life it would be Tuna. And yes, once you've had a slab of tuna off the bbq the canned stuff just doesn't cut it.

We did the overnight trip several yrs ago.It was awesome(the seasick part not so much)lol

we fished on the Tornado with Capt. Dwight. $595 us for 2 nights on the boat and a day of fishing. we left port about 9:30 pm. woke up at first light and started looking for bait/gulls/tuna bustin on the surface. filled the boat by 5:30 and headed back.deckhands processed all the fish on the way back. Gave away most of my meat to friends when i got home. no problem at the border bringing back all that fish. west ofport has a cannery whete you can trade whole tuna for canned. they also provide a vacuum pack service. our motel jad a room for processing your catch with an ice machine. after feeling the speed and power of the Tuna perch fishing will never be the same lol
