Waterproof/WindProof Fishing Gloves?!?!?

Hey guys,

After experiencing my first COLD open water fishing trip, I've come to terms that our boating season is almost over, but I'd like to squeak out a few more weeks if I can :)

Does anyone have any suggestions and experiences on fishing gloves with good dexterity that are waterproof and windproof? Any tips would be much appreciated!

I use the white cotton gloves with Latex gloves over top. Cheap and the cotton gloves come in packs of 10, so if they do get wet just change them out. Or if it is really cold put on 2 pairs. Just make sure you buy a size bigger with the latex gloves or they will cut of circulation and your hands will get cold.

But for duck hunting and picking up decoys I use the neoprene Costco gloves 3 pack is about $15.

Ninja Ice gloves would probably work well. I've got the Cabela's windstopper, but they are not waterproof. They would be awesome if they were though.

Interesting...sounds like it would work well, while still keeping a high level of dexterity. What kind of latex gloves are you referring to? The condom thin surgical ones? Or the thicker work/gardening style?

Whoa....those are some nice gloves. Is there a local store that sells them? Maybe a little more than what I want to spend, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I myself have tried neoprene paddling gloves because I know that I'll always somehow get my hands wet, one way or another...but the heat trapping ability of the neoprene doesn't last long and who wants wet hands all the time??

How are they for getting back on, if your hands are not dry?

If you take them off carefully, it's a breeze to put them back on, even with damp hands.

If you yank your hands out and get the liner bunched up, you'll have to get your hands dry before you put them back on. You'll be working at it a bit with damp hands.

A dry towel is always your best friend if you're fishing when it's cold and damp. :)

I haven't seen them anywhere locally, but shipping is fast and cheap from BC.

I've been using my Taylor Made Golf all weather gloves. work great!

Patagonia makes a thin neoprene glove. comfy in the store. cant go wrong with a pair of wool fingerless. warm when wet.

I see Simms has a new glove this year the Skeena, has anyone checked them out or bought a pair? Think I may go with them for this winter fly fishing the Bow. I really like the looks of the Kastgear too, but would like to be able to try the gloves on before making a decision.

I saw those on the Cabelas site, and they look very waterproof...but I'm not sure how well they'd hold up to cold weather. I guess it would be ok if you're on shore while fly fishing, and not having to deal with the wind chill factor while on the water.
