We are getting a replica made of the 45lb salmon dad caught up at Port Hardy this year and are giving it to him for a Christmas gift. I need ideas for a background that isn't going to be too heavy.

It would be nice to have some type of faux sandstone or something like that to mount Dads fish to.

any ideas?

I alweays love the look of a unique piece of wood, which would resemble it swimming up river to spawn. or mount it from the belly in some gravel and get some material which I forget what they call it , but makes it look like water those are really really amazing. Im sure your taxidetmist could tell you.

Pebbled rock as in river is nice too...but the problem is if its ocean caught you could do seaweed or something along those lines...when were you up in Hardy?

I have seen quite often with big salmon they just mount it to the wall with no diarama. It looks great!

I have one which the taxi mounted against a simple piece of driftwood. It's just a simple forked piece of wood. I think when you have a great mount you want your eye to be drawn to the mount rather than to a busy or shiny background either behind it or under it.
