I was at sylvan last week as well went Monday
We were finding them in 3-6 fow have to move very slowly and quietly. Try to find rocks or sand.
He were having a few strikes but it was slow but also my first time targeting whites in open water .
From what I heard at the launch it was slow everywhere in the lake
We found just hanging a wire worm under a bomber was geting strikes.
We also tried casting small small spinners and were getting a lot of trailers.
Polarized glasses are a must I wish I brought mine.
Patience will be rewarded

We were at Sylvan going for whitefish last weekend as well. It was very tough but I did eventually catch 1. We were seeing a fair amount of them and having the odd strike but they bite so lightly you have to be paying 100% attention to set the hook.
We tried spinners but only had a few followers and no strikes. Wire worms and a variety of flies were getting strikes and a black and white chironomid is what I caught mine on.
You want to be in 2-5 feet of water, just cruise shallows slowly until you start seeing them then start fishing and be patient but alert and you should be able to get a few.
