I can't even imagine the North American record perch. It was caught in 1865 from New Jersey, and is the longest standing record for freshwater fish in North America.

18 in., 4 lb. 3 oz. WOW!

Some of those are from Devil's Lake, ND. I've fished there a few times and it's probably your best bet in North America to catch a trophy. A lot of those are European perch, they're essentially the same visually but small genetic variations and warmer temperatures allow them to grow bigger.
