I'd say these are monster brook trout in the 16-19 inch range and grossly obese, struggling to stay right side up. Shot this video while fishing the Eastern Sierras, Kirman Lake. If anyone knows where I can find some of these in Alberta I still need to catch one as all I caught was the images of these fat slobs this time. I know there is a lake... Fortress Lake In BC that is known to hold some monsters, maybe I'll have to go in search of them there.

Anyways here is a pic of what they look like from this lake... if I would have caught one.

Here is the video link which I think is more fun to watch than catch them anyways... jk!

They can be had in alberta, and even more so just across the border into saskatchewan. Time and effort is required though.

Nice pics on your facebook! Great fish. Thanks for the tips, should be a piece of cake since I have nothing but time and effort, haha!

Yeah they were super docile. I think it also had to do with he camera having the bright orange float back door on it. They seemed to be curious... maybe they thought it was one of their long lost relatives.

The suspension bridge crossing the Athabasca river on the way into Fortress lake collapsed this year. Only way you in right now is fly into the fishing lodge. Or wait till winter and ski/snowshoe the 22km. Here's a link http://www.fitzhugh.ca/hamber-park-cut-off-by-jnp-bridge-collapse/

Nice work! Yeah I guess I might have to spend some time searching out some brookies in AB. Those are some really nice fish. I've only fished for brook trout once in AB at Allstones lake up by Abraham lake. A tiny alpine lake supposedly loaded with them, but we only caught a few in the 10-12 inch range. Thanks for the pick Speckle, very nice.

I didnt know that the bridge was out! Good thing I noticed this as I was 99% sure I was going to hike into there this coming spring again and chase those brook trout around, haha. BTW that lake is amazing, a pretty big hike in as we carried our boats, fishing gear, accomodation and food for a week in there, but each time it has been well worth it. I have seen numerous 20+ inchers come out in a single day.

When there's a will there's a way. I can guarantee that I will be fishing there in the spring. I will swim across the Athabasca if need be to catch more beauties like this.

Right on stapes! A great place to catch those brookies. The river level was pretty high the first time we went in, I dont know if I would of attemped to cross, the second time the river wasnt as high and would be been possible. So I guess a guy just has to time it right or get in there as early as possible, or bring your water wings.

You're exactly right, its all about timing.... but I will be sure to pack the water wings! Got plenty of a awesome pictures last time I was out. I have been out three times now. The sight fishing was exceptional this year in September.
